Laurice Ilagan GuillenFeleo born January 31 1947 is a Filipino actress film and television director and college professor She began acting in the early 70s until her first major work as a director in 1979 with the romantic drama film Kasal In 1981 she helmed the drama film Salome which was shown at the Toronto International Film Festival After a shortterm retirement she returned with the multiawarded 2001 family drama Tanging Yaman and another drama film Santa Santita in 2004 which represented her home country at the Bangkok International Film Festival Guillen served as Chief Executive Officer of the Film Development Council of the Philippines until 2005 and helped found the Directors Guild of the Philippines She has led the Cinemalaya Foundation since September 2010 overseeing its core mission to discover encourage and honor cinematic works of Filipino filmmakers
