Patrick McGuinn

Patrick McGuinn was born in Los Angeles in 1966 the son of wellknown 1960s rock musician Roger McGuinn Gaining an interest in filmmaking from his fathers Bolex 16mm camera and his mothers Vivitar 84p Patrick began making super8mm films at age nine this in addition to having lifelong interests in music puppets and theater He would later perform in punkrock bands as a teenager After studying film and television production at NYUs Tisch School of the Arts Patrick worked in editorial post production roles on numerous PBS documentaries and independent film projects and gradually branched out into his own independent lowbudget filmmaking Early works have quirky humorous themes whereas later work has explored moody erotic themes and embraces diversity in human sexuality Over time Patrick amassed an array of these short and featurelength works producing several short films seven features and a featurelength documentary all of which have found distribution despite their lack of bigname stars and apparent noncommercial appeal The feature films have been distributed on multiplatform streaming outlets worldwide viewed at international film festivals and theatrically released in New York City to very distinctive reviews and reception
